Down In The Country

God, Adam and Eve occupy the tops of tall poles erected deep in a quarry: isolated, approaching the original ground level, they are surrounded by collapsed physicality. The audience looks down on them from a position of comfortable superiority; characters in the depths can only look up, raising their offerings on long sticks to give some semblance of the absent terrain, some way above them.
