The Oracle (Because We're Here)
The Oracle drew on the idea that the life of 'the city' depends on invisible networks of pipes, tubes, cables and conduits. The piece used a spectacular construction of piping, guttering and tubing to evoke and subvert the channels of communication and interaction that are the fabric of the modern world. Plastic tubes and stainless steel pipes were shaped and structured by torrents of language, sound and light into a changing mass of armatures, tendrils, spurs and branches.
